About the Book

This book of poetry has something for everyone; it brings poetry up to speed and breaks through the barrier of rhyme rhyme rhyme. “My Sanctuary” is a journey through a life. The words in this book paint pictures of places seen and emotions felt. There are no holds barred, the author has opened the door and asked us to step inside, into his world. “My Sanctuary” is poetry flowing from the heart and soul, confronting loss and death, love, lost love, pain, joy, awareness, and deep spiritual experiences. To leave these pages unturned would be to neglect yourself of an experience you deserve. The theater of the mind is the greatest of theaters and the imagery in “My Sanctuary” would definitely start the film rolling in your theater. “My Sanctuary” is a book that is sure to find its home on many coffee tables and in many hearts.

Preface

Upon the passing of my little brother, Daniel Jonathan Lammons, I decided that I would release some of my work I have actually contemplated releasing for several years.  In a time like this all I could think about was offering something up as a memorial or dedication for him.

I hope this book will be received into open minds and accepted as not only my thoughts, but also the same frame of mind Daniel was often in.  Not all of these poems are about Daniel, but many do apply.  Many of these poems are from a period of my life when all seemed lost, some are from up to thirteen years ago, but all are from the heart and soul.

I sometimes wonder where the words come from and thank God for the ability to write and express myself.  I ask you to enter slowly into this realm.  May you have the brightest of days, the coolest of summer nights, and always cherish the reason to live, LOVE!

Until Tomorrow

Come, let me take you away,

on a journey

over ice clad hills and frozen streams

let us stop to light the fire one more

time

travel with me into the lowest valley

the sunken land still shimmering

from the cold wind, we seek shelter

we seek comfort, we seek something more

rise now as the ice forms on your brow

tread the miles into the light

of day

lift your head to see the eagle soar

new things realizing old things ways

together see the ancient faces

through clouded skies

past normal eyes

into treasured lands

unmeasured plans

Come, let me take you away
