My Rose

You are my rose, as beautiful as the many colors
Of spring and summer. So very delicate--
So very fragile--So very soft--
You stand tall, and reach out for many
To touch you--To love you--
But, not too much--Not too close--
For-- There are may thorns,
Many thorns of pain.
Many thorns to keep loving hearts--
To keep loving hearts from getting too close.
The thorns prick and make loving hearts bleed.
The thorns give pain.
The thorns are your protection: from love.
Take the thorns away, and you  become weak.
You wither from no strength.
Little do you know, those thorns are for enemies,
Not for loved ones.
Little do you know, those thorns can be part of your beauty.
You are beautiful-- You are soft.
You are loving--Giving so much happiness
But, the thorns--So much pain. So much misery.
Soften those thorns.
Put your strength into your little buds.
Let those rosebuds open up to all who love you.
You are my rose.
Let those who love you enjoy your beauty.
Let them cut a sprig to enjoy
As you grow many more loving branches.
Share your beauty.
Don’t prick all who come your way,
Otherwise, fall will come
And cold winds will blow your soft pedals away.
Then, your beauty will be lost again
Until the warmth in your heart
Lets you grow and bloom again.
Until the tears of loved ones
Waters your soil into remembrance of true love.
Don’t wither away.
Keep your soft, fragrant  beauty
For you are and always will be-- My Rose.
